When Water Changes Need Attention
Contact a rabbit-savvy veterinarian when drinking changes sharply, especially with reduced appetite, abnormal urination, weight loss, lethargy, heat stress, or medication changes.
Interpreting Water Intake
Temperature, diet moisture, body size, activity, pregnancy, nursing, medication, and illness can all change water use. A rabbit eating wet greens may drink less from a bowl than one eating mostly dry hay and pellets.
Sudden large changes, repeated emptying of the bowl, dehydration signs, or reduced urine output deserve veterinary attention.
