Water intake can rise with heat, dry food, increased activity, lactation, or a leaking bottle, but persistent excessive thirst can reflect kidney, urinary, metabolic, or other disease.
Measure actual intake before assuming the rabbit is drinking more.
Seek Prompt Veterinary Help When
- The rabbit stops eating or produces markedly fewer droppings.
- Breathing becomes labored, noisy, or unusually fast at rest.
- The rabbit is weak, collapsed, very cold, or unable to move normally.
- Pain, bloating, bleeding, head tilt, seizure activity, or severe injury appears.
